MINOR RIDERS
So- you’re thinking about buying a motorcycle for your young son or daughter? Excellent- there is nothing quite like a motorcycle to help and allow a youngster to develop skills and confidence as well as providing what every kid wants- freedom. We are the Lodi Motorcycle Club and we’ve watched many many kids over the years, starting as young as age 4, take their first wobbly rides and then blossom into confident, skilled young adults using what they’ve learned as riders and racers. Put your child on a safe, well maintained bike, make sure they’re using proper safety equipment and confirm that they’ve had a good basic level of training in bike operation and then sit back and watch them grow!
The LMC has been running dirt track motorcycle races at our track in Lodi California since 1953, making us the 2nd -oldest motorcycle race track in the U.S. We believe strongly in the value and importance of motorcycle racing as a learning and growth opportunity for kids and adults alike. Because of that belief, we have created a Kids Ride for Free program that provides free races for every rider in our Pee Wee Class. Our partners in this commitment to youth motorcycle racing are the San Francisco Motorcycle Club, Rod Lake, and Knight Racing.
We recommend you visit our track photographer pages where you will see kids just like yours out on our short track and TT tracks, having the time of their lives as they race other little guys and gals, learning riding and racing skills. If time allows, we suggest that before you and your child show up with your new bike to actually race with us, come to one of our race events without your bike, but with your child, and just watch an evening’s races. Wander the pits, talk to any Club member who’s wearing a red Lodi Motorcycle Club shirt, and especially talk to the riders and parents of the minis you see. You’ll be amazed how helpful everyone is and they’ll explain the signup, practice, race, and other procedures that are involved in race event. Make sure you stop by the Tech Inspection area and ask one our inspectors what you need to do to prep your new bike for safe racing (and don’t worry, it’s simpler than you think). When you leave the track at the end of that night’s racing, you’ll be ready to come on back the next weekend for your son or daughter’s first race!
Motorcycle racing does involve some expenses and some risks and it’s not for every kid or every parent. If you drop on by and watch an evening’s races, we’ll bet that by the time that the races are over, you’ll know which camp you are in. Whether you come back with your bike and your new young racer to ride or to watch, you’ll have exposed your child to the oldest form of motorcycle racing in the U.S. and they will likely never forget what they will learn here.
We hope to see you soon!
