Toby Jorgensen Memorial ST
Toby Jorgensen Remembrance Ceremony
We are here today remembering Toby Jorgensen as a prodigious motorcycle racer, but that’s not all he was. Toby was a brother, a friend, a son, and even a fisherman. Toby grew up racing, practicing, and playing with friends out here, at the Lodi Cycle Bowl.
The purpose of us gathering here today is for us to celebrate Toby’s life and great memories we have shared with him.
Toby was born in 1982, started his racing career at age 5 as a Pee Wee. Toby rose through the ranks in District 36, taking the high point championship in every class he raced in, earning the 80cc Black Plate #1 four times, Black Plate #1 in his first year in the Open class, winning the Amateur Nationals seven times, and the 100cc National four times. Toby became a Pro-Sport rider at age 16 and took four months to turn Pro-Expert. Toby earned his GNC license and entered straight into the GNC series. His first GNC race was at Daytona in March 1999. Toby placed twelfth in the main. In August Toby took second at the Peoria TT, followed by the Springfield Mile GNC and then his final race at Dallas where he crashed on lap eight of the main.
As the plaque on display says:
“Those who remember Toby a friend will cherish the time we spent with him.
Those who remember Toby as a racer will remember his grace and talent.
We each remember Toby in our own way, our Champion.
We love you, Toby. You are special.”
Our family is so grateful to everyone who is here today.
Thank you,
Cherie
